Senior Conference Producer / Conference Director

As part of its ongoing development of an already well-established portfolio of global defence events, IQPC Defence are looking for an experienced Production Manager to head up a new Asia Pacific business, based out of Singapore. Responsible initially for launching the business with a small team, you will be responsible for the roll out of our most successful topics across this region as well as the rapid growth that is typical of IQPC.

This is fantastic opportunity for an experienced Production Manager who has enjoyed success running their own division but is now looking to take the next step towards that of Managing Director.

Role Outline

As General Manager, Defence APAC you will be a key member of IQPC International Senior Management team (based in Singapore) reporting to the Managing Director (based in London). You will directly manage the APAC division, working very closely with Head Office in London.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As General Manager, Defence APAC, you are responsible for managing the day to day business .

General Duties:

·          Maximising the profitability of the business and increasing the number of quality and profitable events in APAC through the development of successful commercial business research

·          Analysing research, event and division profit and loss reports and other reports for identification of business threats, risks and opportunities early on

·          Controlling costs and maximising profit

·          Maintaining the trust and confidence of the IQPC Board

·          Maintaining staff and keeping staff turnover to a minimum

General Management:

·          Developing a viable strategic plan within the IQPC Defence strategy with Global MD together with annual forecasts

·          Developing and working to annual budgets in consultation with Finance/Global MD

·          Financial performance reporting to Global MD on weekly basis. Detailed understanding of all accounts.

·          Working with senior management team to develop a comprehensive defence research strategy across APAC, leading to successful events programme

·          Networking with MoD / Government / Industry Business leaders across Europe

·          Constantly researching and assessing commercial viability of new research-led events

·          Working with Blue Chip sponsors of major events to ensure business needs are met

·          Ensuring productivity targets are achieved for research & events through the successful management programmes, staff and deadlines

·          Managing the timely and professional staffing of APAC Defence operations

·          Facilitating knowledge sharing from across the group to the Divisional Managers (in other offices) and helping to translate into meaningful local action steps in order to enhance profitability and maintain best practice

·          Sharing the strategic plan with the management team and enabling them to give input and take responsibility for their divisional strategy, and helping them make rational decisions and set in place processes to achieve profitability

·          Transferring knowledge to other team members, inspiring the team and staff and providing support in difficult times

·          Conveying an understanding of the IQPC Defence culture and organisational goals

·          Setting SMART goals with the team in sync with the larger organisational goals and business strategic plan

·          Identifying growth potential and creating development programmes for senior managers and their staff

·          Ensuring that the business is creating extreme competitive advantage and that all staff know how the business is creating competitive differentiation and what this means in terms of deliverables and quality benchmarks

·          Day-to-day management of IQPC production team within the office including scheduling, forecasting, budgeting

·          Responsible for profit & loss as well as year on year bottom line growth of all events under your control

·          Maintain high productivity levels across the teams

·          Ensure that deadlines are met

·          Control event budgets

·          Maximise profit margins

·          Ensure that internal processes are adhered to

·          Maintain high standards of programme execution

·          Ensure that all events provide an excellent on site experience for our customers

·          Conduct frequent telephone research as well as face to face meetings where appropriate

·          Check and verify the research and validity of each topic through live research before the production process commences

·          Ensure that topic briefs are prepared in good time

·          Keep in touch with your industry sectors through proactive networking

·          Constantly identifying ‘spin-off’ and ‘roll-out’ event opportunities within existing markets to increase portfolio revenue

·          Creating new revenue streams on established events such as award ceremonies, site visits and master classes.

Production:

·          Develop and manage the production schedule

·          Responsible for signing off all sales copy, editorial, brochure text; research and content direction

·          Ensuring the project comes in on time and that every deadline is met

·          Post evaluation of the event; researching external media partners.

·          Recruitment, training and ongoing development producers

·          Drive the production process for each event

·          Closely monitor the performance of the Producers  and Producers through use of Core Competency Plans

·          Conduct timely performance appraisals and manage the career path of the Producers

Sponsorship:

·          Managing the spex process in conjunction with the Sponsorship Managers.

·          Detailed understanding of ‘Value Based Selling’, enabling creation of tailored events to suit specific market needs

·          Drive and ensure use of campaign plans by production and sponsorship

·          Ensure regular campaign catch ups

·          Implementing ‘Value Based Selling’ and the ‘Customer Adoption Path’ in order to create effective Value Propositions for sponsorship

·          Ensuring the relationship between sales executive and producer is profitable

·          New business development including visiting existing clients and new potential sponsors

·          Assisting in ‘sign-up’ of repeat sponsorship at the actual event

Business Development:

·          Understanding market size, scope of event, development of new topics, developing new business relationships, enhancing existing client relationships, working with other IQPC offices to share strategy

Marketing:

·          Lead role in the development and implementation of direct marketing strategy

·          Establishing budget, devising thematic marketing plan for all written direct mail copy, analysis of each event from previous year, finalising marketing plans, deciding on which lists we mail and which external media partners we work with based on the budget. Marketing plan sign off responsibility

Delegate Sales

·          Managing the sales process in conjunction with the Head of Delegate Sales. Campaign Management.

·          Drive and ensure use of campaign plans / Critical path analysis

·          Ensure regular campaign catch ups

·          Implementing ‘Value Based Selling’ in order to create effective Value Propositions for sponsorship

·          Ensuring the relationship between sales executive and producer is profitable
