Decorators em Python

E na mesma linha dos closures, eu passei a saber realmente o que são decorators depois de utilizar a framework Django. Se você está trabalhando com Orientação a Objetos e até agora não se deparou com este recurso, te garanto que um dia você precisará dele… afinal, é um dos Design Patterns mais bacanas (e úteis) que já vi.

Vamos lá “decorar” nossos métodos Python!

Eu não saberia explicar de uma forma melhor do que foi explicado pela Wikipedia, o que é o padrão decorator:

Intenção: Acrescentar responsabilidades a um objeto dinamicamente. Prover alternativa flexível ao uso de subclasses para se estender a funcionalidade de uma classe;Motivação: Objeto usado possui as funcionalidades básicas, mas é necessário adicionar funcionalidades adicionais a ele que podem ocorrer antes ou depois da funcionalidade básica. Funcionalidades devem ser adicionadas em instancias individuais e não na classe;Consequências: Mais flexibilidade do que herança.

Encontramos na Wiki do Python uma explicação mais objetiva e esclarecedora:

Decorators alteram dinamicamente a funcionalidade de uma função, método ou classe, sem uso direto de subclasses ou alterando o código-fonte da função “decorada”.

O Python começou a dar suporte a decorators a partir da versão 2.4.

Você terá a sua disposição alguns decoradores built-in e também poderá criar os seus próprios sem muito dificuldade. É possível identificar um decorator através do caractere @, por exemplo, a instrução abaixo declara o método say_hello da classe People como estático:

class People: @staticmethod def say_hello(): print 'Hello!'

Vale notar que podemos reproduzir o comportamento acima sem utilizar a sintaxe especial de decorators (mas não deixamos de utilizar o conceito):

class People: def say_hello(): print 'Hello!' say_hello = staticmethod(say_hello)

Vamos por a mão na massa e criar o nosso próprio decorator:

Chamando o script acima, teremos o seguinte resultado:

Vou tentar seguir um fluxo que deixe claro o que o procedimento está realizando.

O comportamento da função meu_alvo é muito simples: imprimir “Eu sou um alvo!” na tela. Mas o @meu_decorador está lá para complicar a nossa vida :P

Com a chamada de @meu_decorador logo acima de meu_alvo, fica claro que na verdade estamos passando meu_alvo como um parâmetro (alvo) para o método meu_decorador, encontrado logo no início do arquivo. Note que o método retorna wrapper sem os parênteses no final (que caracterizam uma chamada de função), ele está retornando apenas a referência ao método wrapper, que será de fato “executado” externamente.

Dentro da função wrapper temos a impressão da string ‘Chamando a funcao “meu_alvo”‘ e a execução de meu_alvo. Isto deve-se ao fato de que alvo nada mais é que uma referência a função meu_alvo, que passamos como argumento para meu_decorador através do @meu_decorador logo acima da função meu_alvo, certo?

Então resumindo isso tudo, o resultado final é que meu_alvo() no final do arquivo na verdade é a execução da referência a wrapper, ou seja, é o mesmo que ler “wrapper()“. Ele fará o print e posteriormente retornará o resultado de meu_alvo, que nada mais é que a impressão de “Eu sou um alvo!”.

Bacana não? Aqui vai mais um para deixar as coisas um pouco mais claras… vamos simular o esquema de roteamento de uma framework Web:

Grupo Hacker Anonymous quer destruir o Facebook

Grupo Hacker Anonymous anunciou que fará um ataque ao Facebook no próximo dia 5 de novembro. Depois de derrubar os sites do Pentágono e da OTAN, roubar gravações da News Corp e ajudar no conflito da Síria, o grupo hacker quer destruir o Facebook.

O evento seria um protesto contra as constantes invasões de privacidade e ao acumulo de poder que a rede social vem conseguindo nos últimos tempos.

Segundo o Anonymous, eles farão um ataque coordenado para tirar a rede social do ar. O dia 5 de novembro tem um valor simbólico, representa o dia em que Guy Fawkes, especialista em explosivos, tentou acabar com a vida do Rei Jaime I e explodir o parlamento inglês em 1605. Fawkes foi desmascarado nas vésperas do atentado e condenado à forca.

Veja o comunicado divulgado por eles:

Chega ao Brasil o celular com venda estilo self service

A Alcatel acaba de lançar no mercado brasileiro um modelo de celular que será vendido no estilo self service em supermercados e lojas de conveniência. O aparelho será vendido por R$ 80,00 e virá numa embalagem plástica pronto para usar. Também há possibilidade de fazer recarga por R$ 12,00.

Esse modelo de venda, conhecido como descartável,  é muito difundido nos Estados Unidos. O objetivo é oferecer um aparelho barato para ser usado eventualmente. Ideal para turistas ou pessoas que estão em viagem de negócios e precisam de um celular para se comunicar na cidade.

Inicialmente, o aparelho será comercializado nos supermercados da rede Carrefour. O aparelho já vem com o chip da operadora Claro, mas é desbloqueado.

O modelo disponível é o Touch 208 que é dual band, com rádio FM, lanterna, viva voz integrado e SMS. Há duas opções de cores: preto e vermelho.

STI e Semp Toshiba investem em design de chip no Brasil

A STI e a Semp Toshiba investiram US$ 4 milhões na STI Semiconductior Design Brasil que entrará em operação no mês de setembro, em Campinas. A fábrica irá atuar no desenvolvimento de projetos de circuitos integrados, os chamados chips.

A nova empresa terá 70% do seu capital controlado pela STI e 30% pela Semp Toshiba, mas o controle da companhia ficará sob a responsabilidade de Afonso Antônio Hennel, presidente da Semp Toshiba.

Ferramentas de testes em Django – Parte 2

No post anterior, conhecemos as ferramentas default para construção de testes automatizados em Django. Acontece que você pode “sair um pouco da caixa” e usufruir de ferramentas “third-party“, que enriquecerão o seu ambiente de desenvolvimento e lhe trarão maior segurança em seus testes de software.

É perfeitamente possível criar testes de aceitação em Django com a TestClient e lxml. Mas vamos ser sinceros, é deveras trabalhoso “parsear” os resultados das suas views.

Com a Splinter, uma ferramenta para testes de aplicações web, você pode automatizar ações executadas por navegadores, como visitar uma página, preencher um formulário ou clicar em um link; tudo isso sem preocupar-se com parsing, nós, DOM, nem nada do tipo:

E quando queremos fugir da regra? Aposto que chegará um momento em que a estrutura de diretórios padrão, necessária para a execução dos seus testes em Django, não te satisfará mais. O que fazer neste caso? Simples, recorra ao Nose!

O Nose estende os recursos da unittest e facilita a escrita e carregamento dos testes em projetos Python. De uma forma mais detalhada, ele percorre o seu projeto (ou uma determinada região de seu escolha) executando subclasses da unittest.TestCase ou funções que contenham “test”. Por exemplo:

Ao executar o comando nosetests o nose se encarregará de procurar e carregar os testes:

É claro que existe uma “mágica” aí. Na verdade o nose pesquisará por arquivos Python com “test” em seu nome, por funções com “test” em seu enunciado, e por classes com métodos “test” em sua declaração. Ele age mesmo como um “runner“, tendo a capacidade de lidar com testes escritos com unittest ou não.

Essa é só a ponta do iceberg. É possível construir plugins para o nose, permitindo melhorar ainda mais o seu ambiente de testes (como por exemplo, permitir que o nose funcione em subprocess separados).

Caçando testes em seu projeto (Django)

Para facilitar ainda mais a escrita de testes em Django existem plugins como o django-nose, que permite que você substitua o Test Runner padrão da framework por um específico que utiliza o nose, unindo assim a facilidade e “add-ons” do nose com o ambiente de testes do Django.

Estas são as ferramentas que eu costumo utilizar em meus projetos Python/Django. É claro que existem outras, na verdade existem várias. Tenha em mente que a ferramenta é apenas um meio de garantir, através de testes, que você está guiando a sua aplicação para o lugar certo. Os testes automatizados no final servem para garantir que ela ainda segue este caminho, que contribuições realizadas tardiamente não “quebraram” o comportamento que você escreveu no início do desenvolvimento.

Com a vida corrida que atualmente todos temos, se tornou muito mais fácil buscar produtos no mundo digital do que em lojas físicas. Por exemplo, você deseja comprar um presente para o dia das mães. Entra na internet, vai direto ao Google e digita o produto desejado. Em segundos aparece um mundo de opções de lojas onde pode ser comprado. Você escolhe um site de uma renomada loja online e encomenda um super secador de cabelos. O que você não esperava, era que ele fosse entregue quase uma semana depois do prazo, deixando sua mãe a ver navios no dia dela. Ou pior que isso, receber o produto quebrado, a embalagem rasgada ou o produto errado. Esses e outros erros que deixam os clientes de lojas online insatisfeitos são culpa de uma logística ruim, fruto de um mau planejamento de e-commerce.

Os erros são comuns tanto nas pequenas como nas grandes empresas digitais e para evitar que isso ocorra, o dono de uma empresa online, pensando em ter uma gestão de e-commerce eficiente deve se preocupar em ter uma logística que atenda os desejos dos consumidores, cada dia mais exigentes. Antes mesmo de iniciar as atividades de e-business, o empreendedor online deve organizar muito bem a empresa e até terceirizar o serviço de logística se necessário, depois que o fluxo de pedidos for aumentando. Ao serviço caberá acompanhar o produto desde a chegada da matéria prima, o controle do estoque, até enviar o pedido ao cliente e fazer trocas.

Contratar um serviço de consultoria em e-commerce para iniciar as atividades também é uma boa idéia, principalmente quando não se tem experiência na área, dessa forma se economiza muito tempo e até mesmo, dinheiro.  Outra alternativa válida é o uso de ERP, ou seja, um sistema de informações que contenha todos os dados da empresa, dos produtos, dos processos, etc. E prefira os sistemas online, que podem ser acessados a qualquer momento, de qualquer lugar. Oferecer um sistema onde o cliente saiba em que etapa está o processo de preparação e envio do produto também ajuda a dar confiança e credibilidade para o cliente.

Apesar de custos elevados – em alguns casos, uma boa logística é um diferencial, transmite confiança, dá uma boa fama para sua empresa ser bem vista aos olhos da mídia como também e seus consumidores. Afinal, são eles os responsáveis por seu objetivo principal: crescer profissionalmente e ganhar dinheiro!

Ninguém nasce competente

Competência, segundo o dicionário informal, é a capacidade de mobilizar conhecimentos, valores e decisões para agir de modo pertinente numa determinada situação. A competência de um profissional é formada com o tempo, não existem atalhos. Todo profissional deve decidir como aplicar o seu tempo hoje para colher louros no futuro.

Na empresa onde trabalho atualmente, por exemplo, para um profissional participar de um projeto web terá de conhecer: HTML, Web Standards, CSS, Tableless, Java Script, Java Script não-obstrutivo, C#, TDD, Web Forms ou MVC, EF ou NHibernate e POO dentre outras coisas. Não há como obter todo esse conhecimento da noite para o dia. Qualquer pessoa que deseja atuar na área de desenvolvimento deve investir seu tempo (e possivelmente seu dinheiro) na obtenção de conhecimento.

Apesar de não ser mandatório, percebemos alguns passos comuns na jornada da competência, vejam:

Inicialmente, o profissional sabe uma única forma de executar uma determinada tarefa. Geralmente, essa forma consiste em aplicar uma tecnologia.Após algum estudo, o profissional já conhece outras formas de executar uma mesma tarefa. Está apto a usar algumas tecnologias e até arrisca criar as suas. Ele também evolui na forma de aplicar a tecnologia, tomando alguns cuidados básicos que suas experiências anteriores lhe ensinaram.Avançando um pouco no tempo, o profissional não só sabe várias formas de executar uma mesma tarefa, mas também avaliar qual é a melhor forma para o contexto em questão, ou seja, ele possui discernimento para tomar decisões.Um profissional maduro sabe a real motivação por trás de cada ação envolvida no desenvolvimento de uma atividade, ou seja, ele não faz nada por fazer.

Qualquer profissional terá que trilhar um caminho de aprendizado longo até tornar-se competente. É importante frisar que o investimento do tempo deve se basear em qualidade, não em quantidade. Passar cinco anos exercendo as mesmas atividades, sem encarar desafios e novas experiências é subutilizar seu tempo e sua capacidade intelectual.

Cada profissional deve trilhar seu caminho na busca pela competência, mas existem alguns meios comuns que observamos ajudar na formação dos profissionais, são eles:

É um investimento de longo prazo. Demanda tempo, dinheiro e muita dedicação.

As faculdades tentam inserir o aluno em um ambiente de conhecimento, onde ele não só ficará imerso em disciplinas importantes da nossa área, mas também terá um mar de oportunidades, basta saber aproveitá-las.

O maior benefício da graduação, em minha opinião, está em toda a experiência que ela proporciona. Interagimos não só com os colegas de classe, mas também com professores e profissionais da área que estão inseridos de alguma forma no meio acadêmico.

Sou averso ao mercado de certificações, mas não nego sua utilidade como meio de obtenção de conhecimento.

Estudar para uma prova de certificação pode ser um bom guia para aprender uma tecnologia ou processo. Algumas certificações não exigem curso, sendo necessário apenas realizar um exame que ateste o conhecimento do candidato.

As provas da Microsoft, por exemplo, dividem-se em provas técnicas e profissionais. As provas técnicas atestam se o candidato domina uma determinada tecnologia, já as profissionais, testam a capacidade de decisão do candidato, verificando se ele sabe qual tecnologia é melhor em cada situação.

O conhecimento, sem aplicação prática, pode ser prejudicial em nossa área. Participar de projetos reais é uma ótima maneira de testar suas habilidades e adquirir experiência.

Projetos que tenham membros mais experientes possibilitam uma ótima troca. Além do próprio mercado de trabalho, podemos encontrar vários projetos no mundo Open Source, com código de alta qualidade construído por pessoas muito competentes.

Construir um projeto pessoal também é uma forma válida de aplicação do conhecimento, mas devemos ter cuidado, pois o maior mérito de um profissional é saber trabalhar em equipe.

É importante lembrar que nenhum dos meios apresentados aqui, por si só, atestam competência. A competência é construída com a junção de várias experiências, não apenas uma.

Enfim, acredito que nossa competência é montada com base em decisões de longo prazo. Aprender todo o necessário para ser um bom profissional exige tempo, dedicação e muita disciplina.

Valorize o seu tempo e use-o da melhor forma.

Tablets brasileiros chegam ao mercado em setembro

O Ministro da Ciência e Tecnologia, Aloizio Mercadante, divulgou que os primeiros tablets brasileiros começarão a ser comercializados em setembro. Ele garante, ainda, que não vai faltar tablets e smartphones até o natal.

Os tablets brasileiros chegarão ao mercado com no mínimo 20% de peças nacionais, essa é uma das exigências da lei para que o produto receba os incentivos fiscais. O governo garante que irá fiscalizar o cumprimento da norma e os produtos que não estiverem de acordo não receberão a redução de impostos.

Vale ressaltar também que nos próximos 2 anos o nível de peças nacionais do produto subirá para 80%. Isso visa estimular o desenvolvimento do mercado tecnológico do país e a geração de empregos no setor.

Aloizio Mercadante disse também, que em breve a presidente Dilma irá anunciar novas medidas de incentivo para as áreas de semicondutores e banda larga, para estimular os investimentos no setor.

Ferramentas de testes em Django – Parte 1

Dando continuidade à série de posts sobre Django, vou indicar algumas ferramentas de testes para que você também possa deixar com que os testes guiem o desenvolvimento de suas aplicações.

Afinal, testar é preciso ;)

Sem dúvida nenhuma! Mas não espere que o framework adeque-se a você, você precisa ter a iniciativa de tentar compreender as melhores maneiras para escrever testes em Django.

Por exemplo, se você tem por hábito isolar os modelos para testá-los de forma unitária, pode passar por certa dor de cabeça com o Python/Django. Não que seja impossível, mas o comportamento default do framework é criar uma base de dados “fake” para você não precisar ter este trabalho.

Enfim, talvez a forma de utilizar estas ferramentas caiba em um outro post, o objetivo deste é apenas apresentá-las.

A unittest é uma biblioteca padrão do Python que ajuda (e muito) a escrever testes automatizados com a linguagem.

Os testes são escritos através de classes, onde utilizamos os esquemas de assertions para garantir o comportamento do código testado (nenhuma novidade até aqui). Para quem utiliza testes unitários no Java não vai sentir grandes mudanças na abordagem, já que a unittest é inspirada na JUnit (sendo muitas vezes até chamada de PyUnit):

O test runner padrão do Django irá procurar por subclasses de unittest.TestCase nos arquivos models.py e tests.py. A suíte de testes tenta facilitar ao máximo a sua vida… execute a seguinte instrução e confira se a sua aplicação está ok ou não:

Testar aplicações Web com a unittest pode ser dureza. Pensando nisso o Django disponibiliza a TestCase, que estende a unittest adicionando funcionalidades como carregamento de fixtures, roteamento de urls e um client para fazer requisições Web e testar as suas views (o TestClient, detalhado mais abaixo).

Admito que escrever documentação de software não é o meu forte… mas com doctests pode-se documentar métodos ao mesmo tempo em que escreve-se testes!

A doctest é uma biblioteca padrão do Python que procura e interpreta docstrings na aplicação. A sintaxe nesses trechos de docstrings é diferenciada, simulando um interpretador interativo do Python:

Assim como com a unittest, o test runner padrão do Django procurará por ocorrências de docstests em models.py e tests.py.

E como fazer para testar requisições Web? Por exemplo, você não quer testar a sua view de forma isolada, quer testar desde a parte de roteamento ao comportamento com o banco de dados, como se você se estivesse realmente visitando a página. Neste caso entra a test client.

Toda a classe TestCase possui uma instância da Django Test Client. Então escrever testes com requisições à sua aplicação fica muito simples utilizando classes:

Particularmente, tive a oportunidade de implementar testes unitários já no início do meu aprendizado em Django. Deixar os testes te guiarem é uma prática excelente!

Tudo parte do bom senso, óbvio. Nenhum processo ou ferramenta deveria substituir o “feeling” do profissional… também não é muito sadio ser extremamente “by the book“. Mas se puder utilizar testes para guiar o seu desenvolvimento, use-os!

Na segunda parte deste post pretendo apresentar algumas ferramentas que irão turbinar ainda mais o seu desenvolvimento orientado a testes.
